update on my condition

So, in the past 2 months, I’ve literally had scarlet fever, candidiasis, a severe allergic reaction to a psychiatric medication, the usual impetigo, and now am currently battling the kind of sinus infection where both nostrils feel like they’re clogged with the tar-coated horns of a triceratops.

Also, one of my closest relatives died last weekend. On this, I’d like to encourage everyone to please listen carefully & appreciate all the World War II stories that your grandparents like to repeat - I know they can be tedious and redundant, but you’ll one day miss them.

I’ve been through three boxes of Kleenex, a bag of Ricolas, and like 4 best-selling grief memoirs. (I read all of Blue Nights at the Harvard bookstore yesterday. Like Didion’s last book, it mostly just emphasizes how rich she is. Joan Didion is so rich. This is grief, as experienced by the one percent).
